Bonnie House Glass

Glass Paintings

Painting with glass is about process. Each piece is made with four layers of sheet glass. The drawing is sketched onto a sheet of opalescent glass with glass powder and tack fused, enabling the powder to stick to the glass. Colored glass powders are then applied to sheets of clear glass in multiple firings. There are frequently nine firings within one piece. Each firing takes a full day due to the annealing time and slow cooling required. Once the painting is assembled and fully fused, the edges are ground and polished revealing the layers of glass within the piece.

I have always been drawn to the landscape for inspiration and peace of mind. Because of my reverence for the earth and all of its natural beauty, my representational painted landscapes tend to be void of any influence by man.
